In Genesis 11:10–32, Scripture slows down to show us a genealogy — a long list of fathers and sons, ages and years, each ending with the sobering reality: “and he died.” After the flood, lifespans grow shorter and shorter, reminding us that sin has marked humanity with weakness, frailty, and mortality. But this genealogy is not only about death. It is filled with hope. Every name and every generation is part of a line that moves forward toward God’s promise — a line that leads us from Shem to Abram, and ultimately to Jesus Christ, the One who breaks the curse of death. In this sermon, Pastor Brian shows how even in a passage of shortening lives and repeated sorrow, God is quietly working out His plan of redemption. The grave does not have the final word — Christ does.
