In Genesis 11:1–9, we see humanity united — but united in pride, rebellion, and self-worship. Instead of filling the earth as God commanded, the people gather to build a city and a tower “to make a name for themselves.” In His mercy, God intervenes. He confuses their languages, stops their idolatrous plans, and scatters them across the earth. In this sermon, Pastor Brian shows that God’s act at Babel was not cruelty, but grace — restraining human evil, breaking sinful unity, and preserving the world from another judgment. We learn that God is sovereign not only over mountains and seas, but even over the minds, thoughts, and languages of human beings. And we see that the divisions God created at Babel will ultimately be redeemed in Christ, where every tribe, tongue, and nation will gather before the Lamb.
