Genesis 7:17-24

God’s flood was not random—it was righteous, deliberate judgment and merciful preservation. In Genesis 7:17-24, we see the floodwaters prevail across the earth, yet those same waters lift Noah and his family to safety. The same power that destroys the wicked preserves the righteous by grace. From the forty days of judgment to the preservation of Noah, Scripture reveals that God always keeps a remnant, chosen by grace, for His glory. This sermon reminds us that the God who brings judgment is also the God who saves through His covenant promise in Christ. “But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.” (Genesis 6:8) “For by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)
